James Exon.  Jim Exon served as governor of the great state of Nebraska from 1971 to 1979.  A new record, that established him as the longest-serving governor in Nebraska’s history.  He was the first Nebraska governor to be elected directly to the United States Senate.  Where he served three terms, retiring in January, 1997.
